![]() Leo’s Fortune offers a gorgeous world to jump, float, and slide your way through. Twists like this keep the gamplay engaging and exciting, with new elements are introduced, forgotten, and then reintroduced when least expected. You can then inflate the little chap to send him rocketing upwards, shooting out of the water to reach higher levels. ![]() Swipe down, however, and Leo will sink like a stone. Here, watery pools let Leo bob happily on the surface. The first big change comes as you visit the ocean area. Unfortunately, Leo’s buoyant nature can make his jumping feel a little imprecise, leading to some undeserved deaths, but the generous checkpoint system goes some way to combatting thisĪs you progress from lush forest to icy mountains, new mechanics are layered into the puzzles. You can also use his puffed-up body to raise platforms and trigger switch. Sliding up lets him inflate, causing him to jumpand float, while swiping down sends him crashing to earth. The right of the touch screen controls Leo’s inflation. Though we generally found ourselves ignoring the slider, on later stages the precision it offered proved invaluable. Moving your thumb either left or right will then start the furry fellow moving in the desired direction. Touching anywhere on the left half of the touchscreen brings up a slider to indicate Leopold’s relative speed. All you have to do to guide him to his prize is follow the sparkling breadcrumb trail across five different lands, each filled with beautifully crafted environments and physics-based platform puzzles.Ĭontrolling Leo is simple thanks to the streamlined controls. Leopold's path is marked by a trail of gold coins. One day he returns home to find it stolen, and immediately sets out in pursuit. Because of the visual style and tight controls, it’s a game that doesn’t overstay its welcome and acts as proof that there are mobile games worth your time.Ī copy of this game was provided by the publisher for review purposes. It’s not a bad game at all but it doesn’t do much to differentiate itself from countless other physics-platformers. For the low price of $6.99 it’s a cute, fun physics-platformer that will last you around 1-2 hours depending if you go back and collect all the cogs and get three stars on every level. I had a really good time with Leo’s Fortune but I wonder what a team like this could do with more manpower and technology. For a mobile port, it’s solid and it’s in full HD which you can tell from the second you start it. This is a port of a mobile game with the same name which came out last year on the iPhone but I never heard of it until a few weeks ago when it came out on PS4. From the fuzz of Leo’s body to the photo realistic environments, this game looks bright and colorful and the animations are smooth and superb. The game has gorgeous visuals with great detail. Whenever you’re floating in the air or going up ramps building up speed, Leo controls very smoothly. I found myself dying a lot in the later levels but still coming back to it because of the great controls. The gameplay is momentum-based and things begin rather simple but as you progress through the later acts in the game, there are some puzzles that make you think a bit. ![]() Leo feels very much like Limbo mixed in with some Super Meat Boy and just a pinch of Sonic. Cogs are hidden in each level so you have to keep your eye out for those. The goal in Leo’s Fortune is to collect all the coins and cogs. There are 5 acts and 4 levels in each act and one bonus level if you collect enough stars after completing each level. Leo’s story unfolds in cutscenes that you will see after you complete each act. I was intrigued by this title since I have an infinite love of 2D platformers. On the surface, Leo’s Fortune has an interesting art style and some gorgeous backgrounds.
